Motor Vehicle Records

MVRs, recertifications, CDLIS, DOT
InfoMart’s motor vehicle services help our customers assess risk and maintain compliance with federal laws and industry regulations. If the job calls for an employee to get behind the wheel, it is vital for an employer to review candidates’ driving records and examine risk factors associated with a history of accidents or violations.
  • Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)

Using information gathered directly from the state requested, InfoMart’s Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) reveals an applicant’s insurability, current license status, driving history points and DUI offenses. Reports can be conducted on personal or commercial driver’s licenses.

Fully compliant with the federal Driver’s Privacy Protection Act (DPPA) and related state laws, InfoMart’s Motor Vehicle Reports do not reflect any personal identifying information. Depending on the state and license type requested, Motor Vehicle Reports include the following entries for the last 3-7 years:

    • License status
    • Speeding violations
    • DUI/DWI offenses
    • Equipment misuse
    • Insurance violations
    • Registration violations
    • License suspension history
    • Accident history
    • Moving violations
  • MVR Recertification

Companies that employ drivers, be it a fleet of 20 or 20,000, can’t just stop at reviewing a potential employee’s MVR before hire. They must continually check for current license statuses and new incidents.

InfoMart’s WebASAP system tracks drivers and will remind employers when it is time to review employees’ MVRs, at the interval indicated upon account setup. With the click of a button, an entire employee driver pool is submitted and fresh MVRs conducted.

  • CDLIS

The federally-implemented Commercial Driver’s License Information System (CDLIS) is a central repository of licenses as issued by each state, intended to uphold the Commercial Motor Vehicle Safety Act of 1986, which made it unlawful for drivers to be commercially licensed in more than one state.

A CDLIS search provides information on a driver’s currently held commercial driver’s license (CDL), if any, along with up to three previously held licenses regardless of what state issues these licenses. Conducting a CDLIS inquiry can be a valuable tool, indicating a need to search more than one state’s department of motor vehicles records.
