INFOMART NEWS
InfoMart Goes Green

InfoMart has always been committed to promoting diversity and supporting our community. Recently, InfoMart added environmental conservation to our commitments. Through a month-long environmental awareness initiative, InfoMart employees challenged themselves to find a way to conserve, preserve or reserve the environment. Each employee accepted this challenge by committing to at least one act of environmental conservation. Some employees committed to carpooling or walking to work, while others committed to recycling or composting. As a pledge of their commitment, each employee signed his or her name to a leaf. The leaves were hung on a Commitment Tree in the main processing area of our building. Employees and visitors were able to watch as the tree bloomed with leaves. By the month's end, InfoMart had 100% participation and commitment from its employees.

In addition, on Saturday, August 28th, InfoMart's employees, families and friends gathered for an "Environmental Awareness Day." InfoMart teamed up with Brumby Elementary, our Partner in Education, for a day of environmental events. Several students and their families as well as Brumby's Principal and 4th Grade Science Teacher participated. Rottenwood Creek, which runs along InfoMart's facility, was cleaned by volunteers who removed hundreds of pounds of garbage. Others planted native indigenous plants to provide for the local wildlife. InfoMart employees cleared pathways and placed stepping stones. InfoMart kids and the Brumby Elementary students painted colorful birdhouses and made bird feeders out of pine cones, peanut butter and bird seed. The children were delighted to see their projects become part of the nature walk.

InfoMart is proud of the commitments made by our employees, and our "Environmental Awareness Day" was a huge success. Ongoing activities include donations to Brumby Elementary for science and environmental related equipment and materials. InfoMart is also donating our recycled cans for their school recycling project. We will work with the school to develop a "Rain Garden Project" which is a bio-retention area. The partnership with Brumby Elementary will center on environmental related activities in addition to food and monetary donations for other needed items.
