Mandatory Fees Explained

A mandatory fee, the charge applied when InfoMart is assessed a fee by an entity to conduct a search, is sometimes unavoidable. If InfoMart is charged a fee for gathering information from a court, school or other entity, those fees are passed on to you as the client.

As many universities now outsource the maintenance and storage of their employee and student records, most education institutions have started charging mandatory fees for access to records. In addition, more and more states and counties are charging a fee due to the increasing need for background screening services.

Not all criminal jurisdictions, educational institutes or employers charge a fee. In fact, the majority of them do not. Mandatory fees come from a myriad of sources. While criminal history, employment and education are the largest culprits of mandatory fees, you may also see them when running a motor vehicle report or a drug test. These fees are subject to change at any point should the entity requiring this fee decide to change their price. InfoMart has no control over these decisions.

While it is impossible for InfoMart to maintain a comprehensive list of all mandatory fees that would include education, employment and drug testing, we do keep an up-to-date list of fees associated with conducting criminal history searches in county, state and federal jurisdictions, as well as those associated with civil searches and motor vehicle reports.

Should you have any questions regarding these fees please call the Client Relations Department at 770-984-2727, option 2 and an InfoMart representative will be glad to assist you.
