InfoMart Client Audits

In our continuing effort to maintain and promote compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), InfoMart will periodically audit our customers for applicant consent forms. Additionally, some of InfoMart's regulated background services, such as Motor Vehicle Reports and Credit Histories will prompt similar audits from our suppliers.

In the event that your account is selected during our random audit selection process, you will be contacted by our Compliance Department and/or your Client Representative, given the name(s) of the applicants whose consent forms we require and notified of the submission deadline. Failure to provide the required consent forms in a timely manner or submission of incomplete consent forms may result in the restriction of your account.

3 Tips for Successful Audit Completion

1. Obtain Written Consent from Each Applicant

  • The FCRA (§604) requires that you clearly and conspicuously disclose the nature and scope of the consumer report you plan to procure from InfoMart, and obtain written authorization for the procurement of the report. Submitting a request for a consumer report without first obtaining this documentation is in violation of the FCRA and your InfoMart User Agreement.
2. Review Consent Forms Before You Accept Them
  • When an applicant executes a consent form, be sure to check the signature line. Is the applicant's signature legible? If not, is there an additional field for the applicant to print his/her name?
  • If your form includes specific consent by service, be sure your applicant has not "red-lined" it, thereby revoking consent to perform one or more of the services you plan to request from InfoMart.
  • If your form includes fields for address, Social Security Number, Date of Birth, etc., be sure it is completely executed by the applicant.
3. Mind the Audit Deadline
  • If you are having trouble obtaining the required forms from satellite offices or offsite storage facilities, please discuss this with your Client Representative. InfoMart understands that many companies are decentralized, and therefore have difficulty accessing such paperwork. We will extend deadlines as we are able, to ensure that you have ample time to complete your audit request.
We are dedicated to maintaining full legal compliance for InfoMart and for our clients. If there is anything we can do to assist you in this effort, please feel free to contact your Client Representative or InfoMart's Compliance Department at 770-984-2727, ext. 1244.
