Piecing Together the Details: Applicant Identifiers

Even before you submit an applicant's data to InfoMart for screening and before a searcher is dispatched to search criminal records, a very important step in the screening process happens; the potential new hire fills out an application. Why is this step so important? Because, when an application is filled out completely and accurately, the identifiers provided play a key part in uncovering whether or not your applicant has a criminal past.

Different sources of criminal records contain different identifiers. Federal criminal records, for example, do not contain date of birth or Social Security Number information. While this makes an exact match for individuals with common names difficult, it's not impossible, thanks to other applicant-provided identifiers. Full names (including middle name), maiden names and any other names used in the past are all helpful. It also is important for applicants to provide home addresses going back as many years as will be searched.

By using these and other identifiers, InfoMart can verify that the records for a particular "John Smith" or "Jane Smith" are being accessed - helping you determine whether that ideal applicant is a perfect fit or a costly mistake for your company.

For more information on identifiers, please contact customerservice@infomart-usa.com or 770-984-2727 option 2.
