InfoMart Makes a Donation for Education
Marietta, GA (June 2, 2005) - InfoMart today announced the donation of $1,500 to Brumby Elementary School's science department, supporting the school as they prepare to purchase supplies for the coming school year. At a ceremony on May 19, the check was presented to Brumby principals Genie Byrd and Reisha McKinney, and science teacher Barbara Woods by InfoMart president Tammy Cohen and Holly Comer, senior manager of corporate relations. The donation was part of an ongoing partnership, which began at the start of the 2004-2005 school year, and is part of the Partners in Education program sponsored by the Cobb County Chamber of Commerce with the goal of partnering businesses with local schools to provide support with volunteers, monetary donations and special programs - as well as giving students an opportunity to learn about businesses. "This program is a partnership in the truest sense of the word," said Cohen. "The students and teachers at Brumby have benefited from resources that they might otherwise have not had and InfoMart and its employees have been enriched through their continued service to the community." InfoMart has participated in numerous activities with the students and teachers of Brumby Elementary throughout the year, including reading to classes as part of Read All Day, an environmental cleanup and education project, a Drug Awareness week door-decorating contest and speaking to classes about what InfoMart does and how inappropriate actions during youth can impact future job and college prospects. InfoMart has a strong tradition of supporting local schools and will continue that tradition in the 2005-2006 school year by renewing their partnership with Brumby Elementary and becoming a Partner in Education with another area school, Eastside Elementary.
