Cleaning Crew Downs $4K Worth of Booze

Cleaning Crew Downs $4K Worth of Booze A cleaning crew at a popular Punta Gorda, Florida bar was recently arrested after being videotaped allegedly consuming thousands of dollars worth of alcohol while on the clock.

Management at Harpoon Harry's installed the surveillance cameras weeks before the cleaning crew binge, after suspecting that more than just cleaning was going on in the overnight hours. Following installation of the monitoring equipment, the cleaning crew was notified that they were being videotaped.

On the night in question, the surveillance video showed the drinking started early in the overnight shift and did not end until just before sunrise. The tab for the stolen alcohol, including top shelf spirits like Hennessy and Courvoisier, totaled more than $4,000.

Bar manager Chris Evans said he felt shocked and betrayed by what the workers did, but added, "It was comical, comical. One of the gentlemen was so good he was using two hands to pour."

Though they were caught on tape, members of the cleaning crew maintain their innocence and say they have no regrets.

Background checks could have altogether prevented the cleaning crew cocktail party. Following the booze theft arrest, it was revealed that of the nine member crew, six are convicted felons and three are on probation.
